Contemporary, Creative Wedding Photography, based in our Crownhill Studio in Milton Keynes.
At Read Photography, we have over 30 years of experience in professional photography. We've been around just long enough to remember photographing weddings using film!
A husband and wife team, we will tell the complete story of your wedding day as it unfolds, capturing the atmosphere and emotions of the day and sealing them in images to cherish.
Whether you are looking for traditional or reportage coverage of your special day - or something between the two, we will deliver. We will create those all important, once in a life time family group photos with the minimum of fuss and disruption. Equally important, we will discreetly blend into the background from where we can capture our most candid shots. Our Story
21 years ago, we got married at St Mary's in Bletchley, our childhood church. Unable to source a wedding photographer who ticked all of our boxes, and having a solid commercial background in photography, most of our wedding was set up and photographed by ourselves! We did use a trusted colleague for some of our "together" photos, but the reception, hosted in a local Italian eatery, sadly no longer around, were largely taken by us.
Fast forward to today, and having enjoyed a 30-year career in photography, including witnessing the biggest change of the century as we navigated and embraced the transition from negatives and dark rooms to digital photography and image manipulation, we decided to slow the week-day pace and focus on capturing special moments for other couples embarking on their lives together.
Twenty-plus years ago, it was uncommon for wedding photography to be anything more than formal shots of bride; bride and groom; bride, groom, respective family members; bride, groom, wedding party and so on. Although this formal model clearly still has a place for many people, it was not the 'focus' of our day. We wanted to capture each other, our friends and family genuinely enjoying celebrating our union, without force and etiquette dictating the photos we took. Our style was very much, to quote the words of Magnum founder, Henri Cartier-Bresson, 'capturing the moment'.
Whether your choice of wedding photography is formal, reportage or a mixture of both, we can help you. Our pricing is straightforward in three tiers (just like that traditional wedding cake you may or may not be having!) and you will receive your images by download link in no time at all! Albums and other prints can be supplied - prices on request, depending on your preferences.
Give us a call today - we promise you a set of images to treasure!
Nicola received a 110 camera for her 10th birthday and hasn't stopped taking photos since! She credits herself with inventing the 'selfie' before the word even existed - and she has the prints to prove it!
Whilst supporting Noel in his photography career for many years, she has picked up the tools of the trade and in particular has an eye for spotting the nuances of a situation and the finer details.
The admin behind the scenes takes place discreetly by Nicola who will secure the booking, note the details and deal with any particular requests. She will accompany Noel to shoots providing any backup and support that might be needed not only to Noel but to the happy couple - so if Great Uncle Brian has disappeared again, Nicola will be the one to find him and remind him that he is required for a group shot!
The joy of a wedding cannot be underestimated and Nicola will ensure that your dreams become reality!
Noel was fascinated with photography from a young age and spent many happy hours as a young boy behind a 35mm camera, then impatiently waiting for slides to arrive back from Kodak  a week later!
After completing A Levels, Noel spent a year working with Milton Keynes's foremost wedding photographer, before earning a sought-after place at the prestigious University of Westminster where he secured an honours degree in Contemporary Media Practice, focusing on photography and digital imagery.
After graduating Noel joined the largest commercial studio in Milton Keynes for the next ten years, working for clients that included Aston Martin, Argos, Reebok, alongside advertising and creative agencies and marketing departments. During this time Noel oversaw a decade of change in world of photography as the industry turned to a digital workflow, and dark rooms, negatives and transparencies were rapidly replaced by High Resolution CCD capture, Macs and editing software.
Finally, in 2005, Read Photography (www.readphotography.co.uk) was founded and it was time to go it alone. Despite a fulfilling and long-lasting career in commercial photography, the joy of photographing weddings remains and now that the children are grown and weekends are our own again, we can now share our time between wedding photography and commercial commissions.
